SMERIN’S ANTI-SOCIAL CLUB
There’s now been a decade of legendary live performances from Smerin’s Anti-Social Club that embraces the reckless eclecticism that has always electrified the bands gigs. Showcasing complex-but-catchy brass arrangements underpinned by shape-shifting grooves, this is the sound of nine musicians unafraid to explore multiple directions at once somehow managing to sound like no one else but themselves!
Smerin’s Anti-Social Club, initially conceived to play a one-off show at a rave in 2002, and then went on to hone their sound by touring extensively, notably at festivals big and small all over the UK and Europe. Fittingly for a band who earned their stripes in such musically diverse surroundings, Smerin’s Anti-Social Club glide effortlessly between styles, from old-time swing with a modern twist, to hip-hop, ska, dirty funk-soul, dub and full on rock.
Dubcentral have loved Smerin’s Social Club for many years, and we are so excited to have such a unique bonkers brilliant band come to Sheffield to play their first performance in our city!
HOLLIE COOK, PRINCE FATTY, HORSEMAN
The daughter of Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook and mother Jeni who was once a member of Culture Club, Boy George is her Godfather, Hollie Cook joined the re-formed Slits and performed on the band’s 2006 EP Revenge of the Killer Slits. She went on to collaborate with Ian Brown and Jamie T, and recorded her self-titled debut album in 2011 with Mike “Prince Fatty” Pelanconi, featuring George Dekker of The Pioneers and Dennis Bovell. The BBC, reviewing the album described it as “one of the most enjoyable reggae albums of 2011 so far”. She went on to record a radio session for the BBC and appear on Later… with Jools Holland. De Telegraaf gave the album a four star review.
In 2012, she was chosen as one of the support acts for The Stone Roses’ reunion shows. Hollie Cook describes her music as ‘tropical pop’, and she has such a sweet voice! With Prince Fatty and Horseman their combined show is amazing.

Daddy Teacha has also toured Germany with the band, Di Iries and Gentleman. His other recorded works with artists and labels include: Gentleman (Hypocrites and Parasites), The Uptones (No More War), Tanty Records (Dutchy Pot Dub),OSS Records (Rally Round) and Jamaica’s Amazon Nuziks (Miss CasseyAllstars album).

Sir Wixalot (Drop the Bomb)
Sir Wixalot brings us a set of world party bangers with variety as spicy as a hot scotchbonnet
Dill (Planet Zogg, Chicken Shack, Dr. Zogg’s Galactic Sound Emporium)
A many of many hats, Dr. Zogg (Planet Zogg’s funky little brother) has graced many a dance-floor from Shalesmoor to Shimla. Tonight he’ll be playing an eclectic mix of funk, house and breaks to get you up and dancing – anything to get your hips shaking and your mind bending!
Greef (Tower of Power)
Greef’s obsession with spinning black crack pressed at 175bpm began in the foetid heat of teenagedom and has yet to fade. Junglistic journeys through the drums and basses of yesteryear into the buzzes and stabs of the noughties cascade from the wheels of steel under his fingertips. Ravers attending his shows recount tales of life-changing basslines and vital snare patterns, the meaning of the universe hidden in a synth stab and vague memories of universal spiritual harmony induced through perfect dissonance.
DJ Chiv (Bison, Good Morning Rave)
