Dubcentral Presents Yammi / I-SUS 2K Sound System at The Harley
Yammi was born in England, from the first generation african/caribbean. He grew up around sound systems from 1973 onwards. Itiopians was his first sound in the early seventies, playing alongside sounds like Mafia, Quaker City and Lord David. The Itiopians crew began to seperate and from this the I-SUS Soundystem was created in 1980.
I-SUS was a sound that dominated the North of England. Black Joy another soundystem in Sheffield who were also close relations to I-SUS joined forces to become another sound in Sheffield known as Trojan Highpower. They had the same engineer who also built amps for Sifa. Yammi designed and built the speaker cabs but after 10 years members wanted to change from playing roots and culture, and play bashment and dance hall music which they felt was not giving out the right message, highlighting guns disrespecting life and giving respect to material things, so Yammi and Idren Godson went their own way and built back I-SUS 2k with the principles that mattered to them, they deal strictly with Roots & Culture and Dub.
